Week 37

Crazy to think this was our last full week...here are some highlights! We had our final Art Literacy lesson on Tuesday. The first graders learned about famous artist, Grant Wood and then used oil pastels to create their own farm landscapes. This came naturally to them, as they just completed their farm math unit! In math we started exploring fractions. We read the "Cookie Fiasco" and then the first graders did an amazing job dividing up their whole cookie into equal parts. Next time you have sandwiches, pizza or cake with your kids ask them how you can cut it so that each person will get the same amount! Our mealworms are growing! The entomologists are excited to watch the metamorphosis of their mealworm larvae!  I had the opportunity on Thursday to read with each student while Ms.Mcgrady was subbing. She did some beautiful entomologist art with the kiddos, while I got to be blown away by all of their amazing growth as readers! Word Scramble:  We have been...
