Week 10
Wow, it was a short but busy week!
On Halloween we had a day filled with art, science, buddies and some skittle math! The first grade artists created silhouette spooky trees with paper, watercolors and sharpie. After, we had our buddies join us for some mystery science. They explored not only what the biggest spider in the world is, but also the huge variety of spiders that exist. Whether one finds spiders creepy or not, it is argued that all spiders can be fascinating and worthy of attention. With their buddies, they built a spider that can climb up a string. Watch out for the creepy, crawly spider in your house! We ended Halloween with a little sugar warm-up during skittle math. The first graders got to practice sorting, graphing and adding with their skittles.
On Thursday, the kindergartners came in for a reading parade to show off their reading skills! The first graders were reading cheerleaders and then got to share their reading skills and strategies with Mrs.Evans' kindergartners. It was a fun celebration of hard work and great reading :)
We also learned about Dia de los Muertos! The first graders were curious and excited about this holiday that celebrates the lives of our loved ones who have passed. They learned about the traditions and celebrations, and got to create their own festive skeleton masks!
Reminders:
11/6: Picture Re-Take Day—AM
